Main docterines of Anabaptism

I have summarized the main doctrines of the Anabaptists in 5 clear points;

-No Infant Baptism;

They rejected Infant Baptism as a `Roman Catholic custom`. Because they said that there was no biblical ground for Infant Baptism. Because for them only Adult Baptism was Scriptural. The reason why they said this was a in Mark 16:16. I just write what`s in it;`He that believed and is baptized shall be saved`. Because the adults could only show the confession of faith and can show their faith in life, which children couldn’t according to Anabaptists, were the adults only aloud to be baptized. They didn`t consider Infant Baptism as valid, so the adults who were Baptized as a kid had to be Baptized again. And this is where the name `Anabaptists` comes in. Because `ana` means again...

-A Holy church of true believer;

Someone could only became member of a congregation by Baptism after making the confession of faith. Because first their life would have to be thoroughly examined by the question; Did their life truly show that their were a child of God? They also believed that a holy life was possible and they washed away `old sins`.

-Internal light more important than the Bible;

 The bible was through the eyes of a Anabaptist an imperfect book. They thought that the work of the Holy Spirit was necessary. But that the Holy Spririt didn`t need a dead later to pass on the message of God. Therefore they said that the `internal light` was even more important than the bible.

-A thousand-year reign of peace;

 They concluded based on Revelation 20, that Christ would come to the world to rule it for a thousand years with his believers. This maybe sound strange but they believed it for real! They even thought that this was going to happen soon! Many Anabaptists thought that they had to help God with building his empire. They could do so by `fighting the enemies of God`; The RCC for example.

-Rejecting the government;

 The Anabaptists said that the government was so wicked, that they couldn`t follow them in many ways! For example; They were against oaths and it wasn`t allowed to hold government offices or be a soldier.
